Nonprofit & Social Services

As one of the leading partners to over 2,200 non profit and social services agencies in the Western United States, Chapman understands the commitment of those individuals and organizations that serve others. We understand business operations, administration and funding management challenges that all of our agencies face.

We serve the diverse sector of nonprofits—those that provide an invaluable service to many individuals in many unique ways. We understand the impact and challenges of shifting economic factors and their affect on philanthropy efforts and approaches to funding.

Many of our community based YMCA and YWCA organizations, Boys and Girls Clubs and Community Centers face limited financial resources and require a keen eye on insurance cost management. In addition, challenging insurance issues such as athletics, swimming pools, transportation, volunteer exposures and counseling activities can augment coverage needs and increase premiums. It is vital to choose an insurance carrier that has experienced leadership in protecting these organizations.

Through our client support to 17 of the 21 Regional Centers within California, we understand that with every challenge lies opportunity and that your goal is to make a positive impact in all areas of a person’s life and promote their ability to be productive members in the community. We have the knowledge and expertise to address the issues you face through insurance and other forms of risk management.

Every year more and more foster parents and agencies, as well as Child and Family Service Agencies, encounter unique challenges. We understand these challenges make it difficult to obtain coverage for problems such as sexual abuse and molestation. Additionally, there is a distinct need to provide professional liability for counselors. In many cases, counselors are para-professionals whose work is monitored by a licensed professional. The agency may contract with licensed clinicians, including psychiatrists to review files, prescribe medication and supervise the work of the counseling staff. At Chapman, we are trained to recognize the unique exposures faced by these services and assure proper coverage for these exposures.

Children’s Residential facilities are essential to communities today, with programs that provide a safe and supportive foundation for a child to build upon. In particular, fewer children are being placed into group homes causing financial strain on residential-based agencies. In some instances, health insurers will not offer quotes to agencies with a residential operation. Furthermore, group homes are closing down or merging with other social service agencies. Residential-based agencies are evolving operations—expanding into Foster Care and Mental Health programs.
